Ways to Give

The mission of the UC Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA) is to inspire the imagination and ignite critical dialogue through art, film, and other forms of creative expression. BAMPFA has developed an international reputation for our active and ambitious exhibition programs, the quality of our art and film collections, and our remarkable research resources. Donations from individuals like you support BAMPFA’s continued excellence and ensure our art and film programs are available to the widest possible audience.

Gifts of Art and Film

Donating Art and Film

All proposed gifts of art or film are reviewed by the Curatorial Department and director. If determined appropriate for the BAMPFA collection, proposals are then presented to the Collections Committee, which votes to recommend each work of art to the Board of Trustees for final approval. The Collections Committee reviews proposed gifts quarterly. Donations valued at $5,000 or more require independent appraisal to qualify for tax benefits. Note that all donations require a deed of gift; gifts of physical property only do not affect copyright.

To propose gifts of works of art to BAMPFA, please email artcuratorial@berkeley.edu. For information about donating film and video to BAMPFA, please email filmcuratorial@berkeley.edu.

Donating Film Research Materials

The Film Library and Study Center welcomes donations of film books, periodicals, still photographs, posters, production files, distributor and festival catalogs, and any other film-related documentation. Donations help improve the scope and quality of our library collections, which are used by students, scholars, historians, and film enthusiasts from the Bay Area and beyond. All donations are subject to resale if items duplicate the library’s collections.

For information about making a donation to the Film Library and Study Center, please email pfafilmcollection@berkeley.edu.
