  • With artist Kim Bennett

Kim Bennett is an artist and teacher whose work ranges across disciplines and includes devotional botanical paintings, imaginary embroideries, and collaborations with kids, poets and other artists. She holds a BFA from the Cooper Union and an MFA from California College of the Arts. As a teaching artist in our field trip program, she has a great time taking second and third graders around BAMPFA.

Family Fare connects art viewing with art making in ways that engage both young people and their grown-ups. Participate in guided viewing and discussion in the galleries with a UC Berkeley graduate-student guide and then explore related ideas in the Art Lab with an experienced teaching artist. Each session focuses on a different group of artworks and related hands-on activities.

In this session led by artist Kim Bennett, families will look together at Chinese paintings of the natural world on view in the exhibition Summer Trees Casting Shade and then create their own mixed-media landscapes.

Sign up onsite beginning fifteen minutes before the session you wish to attend. Be advised that space is limited to twelve kids per session; please arrive promptly to sign up.
