Full: Ritual

Programmed by Land and Sea

Local author Cedar Sigo performs a reading among altars, colored lights, and descending tones. Voicehandler (Jacob Heule and Danishta Rivero) play intuitive, incantatory music grounded in the human voice and percussion, but juxtaposed with contemporary, disembodied electronics. And New York–based performance artist Frank Haines brings us his trademark magical musical montage.

Cedar Sigo was raised on the Suquamish Reservation in the Pacific Northwest. He is the editor of There You Are: Interviews, Journals, and Ephemera by Joanne Kyger (forthcoming from Wave Books) and author of eight books and pamphlets of poetry.

Voicehandler’s improvisations are shaped by their physical setting and social context, using site-specific installations to more deeply experience spaces. They deconstruct song forms in relation to mythology and literature to explore humanity and the shifting discourse surrounding it.

Frank Haines is an artist, publisher, performer, amateur mycologist, and magician living in Chinatown, New York. He performs in the bands Blanko & Noiry and Nastie Band.
