Daji And Her Father

A rare chance to see a Chinese film made for and about a minority people, in this case the Yi nationality who live in Southwest China. The story begins in the pre-Revolutionary years of oppression, and focuses on a young girl - Daji - who is taken from her natural father by one of the Yi slave-owners. She is rescued from slavery and brought up by a former Yi slave; years later, after the Revolution, her real father (who is of Han origin) turns up, and the dilemma is posed: with whom should she live?
