Collector William Goodman and curator Sandra Phillips, organizer of Unlimited: Recent Gifts from the William Goodman and Victoria Belco Photography Collection, will illuminate the works on view and discuss the experience of collecting and curating photography from their personal perspectives.

Goodman and his wife Victoria Belco have been collecting art, with a primary focus on photography, since the mid-1970s; he is a past member of the SFMOMA Photography Department Accessions Committee. Goodman and Belco fund the Tosa Studio Award, which provides a stipend and studio space at the Minnesota Street Studios in San Francisco to an emerging Bay Area artist.

Phillips is an adjunct curator at BAMPFA and curator emerita of photography at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. She has organized numerous critically acclaimed exhibitions of modern and contemporary photography, including Exposed: Voyeurism, Surveillance and the Camera since 1870; Diane Arbus Revelations; Helen Levitt; Dorothea Lange: American Photographs; Daido Moriyama: Stray Dog; Crossing the Frontier: Photographs of the Developing West; Police Pictures: The Photograph as Evidence; and An Uncertain Grace: Sebastião Salgado.
