Regional finalists in four categories: animation, dramatic, experimental and documentary, will be selected from films entered by college students in Northern California and the Pacific Northwest. The audience will view the films with a panel of nine judges - local filmmakers, critics and film educators. The panel deliberates and announces finalists tonight. Films selected will be sent to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Beverly Hills to compete with entries from eight other regions for national cash awards. The Sixth Annual Student Film Awards is sponsored by the Academy and The Bell System. All donations received are used to defray expenses incurred in the regional competition.
